Principal Hardware & Software Systems Engineer - Networked Graphic

DisplayLink is a semiconductor and software company, our “Network Display” technology provides innovative ways to connect computers to displays and has the potential to revolutionize display connectivity on the personal computer and beyond.

DisplayLink launched its first semiconductor product family for USB network displays into the market in December of 2006 and has quickly signed up an impressive customer base including tier-1 PC OEMs and LCD display manufacturers.

Working across multiple disciplines the Principal Systems Engineer will be the pivotal point for technical decisions and discussions on DisplayLink solutions for current and future customer designs, requirements, requests and ideas.

The Engineer will be responsible for deciding and communicating the real world implementation of DisplayLink technologies for future products and releases to suit the current and future markets. The main focus will be expanding the use of DisplayLink technology within the top existing customer base.

Working with and leading representatives from hardware, firmware, host software and chip development, the Principal Systems Engineer will use suitable resource internally and externally as required and work closely with sales and marketing, being the central technical point of contact and decision maker.

Initial responsibilities will include ensuring suitable reference designs for customers are in development for current and future requirements - the strategy and implementation.

The candidate will be broad technically with at least two full product lifecycles in order to have a full understanding of product development and problems encountered, i.e. a practical engineer with an enquiring mind with the ability to understand and design at a system level as well as going into detail.

Essential Attributes

• High volume consumer electronics product design

• Strong commercial awareness

• Solid communication skills with external technology partners and with internal colleagues at all levels

• Able to distil technical issues clearly within a business prospective framework

• Very broad and solid hardware and software experience

• Excellent project management abilities

• Reasonable knowledge of video graphics and networking

Desirable Attributes

• Windows 2K/XP/Vista development in multi threaded / multi tasking applications

• Hardware and Software experience in video graphics

• Low level network programming

• Fabless semiconductor experience

• Some knowledge of cryptography / compression algorithms
